Another Bickers GLUEJET Sold to Wilmot Budgen at Ipex 2010

After a successful IPEX show Bickers is proud to report great interest in their GLUEJET pattern gluer. The show machine was sold to London based Wilmot Budgen, which is their 3rd GLUEJET. Another 4 installations of the popular 17.25 GLUEJET will take place in the next 6 weeks, with others pending. Hot melt (and cold glue) can be applied in bead or spray in any geometric pattern including line, waves, circles, arcs, dots etc. The pressure sensitive hot melt glue has incredible bonding properties on most substrates used in the print industry and it has almost infinite open time enabling complex assemblies. The GLUEJET will increase both productivity and profits, giving a fast investment return.

Lamina Gluer Eases Bottleneck at The SP Group

Lamina Systems AB has recently installed a 2200mm wide Hot Melt Gluer with tape applicators and Working Station at The SP Group based in Redditch. Gluing and Taping operations are now completed semi-automatically in a fraction of the time usually taken by hand. Consistency is being achieved throughout the job with significant savings on glue. Gary Page, Print Finishing Manager, says “The Lamina Gluer has increased production and reduced overtime, thus making our finishing more productive and more profitable”. “Several thousand pieces had passed through the Gluer by the end of day one of the installation!”
**Due to the success of the first machine a second Gluer with Working Station was installed 6 months later!!**

LAMINA Line for CREO-UK / Lauren Group

Retail marketing specialists Creo have recently acquired point-of-sale manufacturers Lauren Display based in Maidstone, Kent. Matt Foney, Production Director, explained that Creo has plans to expand very quickly expecting to double its £6 million turnover over the next years trading. This will mean making some considered purchases. The first major investment for spring 2008 has been a Lamina 1600x2000mm sheet laminator line. The line comprises of a Laminator, Flip/Flop unit, Down Stacker and an automatic glue feed system. The Flip/Flop unit means selected piles of stock passing through the line can be alternately turned or every pile can be turned preparing it for the next process, greatly reducing the back- breaking handling of heavy finished stock. Creo/Lauren can now keep its sheet laminating work in-house, which means having total control and adding to profit margins.

Second Lamina for RCS Plc

RCS Plc based in Retford have just had their second Lamina Laminator installed. The first machine was an 1100x1000mm fully automatic laminator and the second machine is a 1600x2000 fully automatic 'Blackline' laminator. This new machine will compliment the pending installation of a large format multi-colour litho machine which is also part of their investment programme for 2008. With Drupa taking place this year, 2008 promises to be yet another good year for Lamina System on the worldwide stage.

Parallels Start with Lamina

New start company Parallels, based in Tamworth, had a 1620 Fully Automatic Lamina Laminator together with Pressure Belt installed as phase one of their new company. As print finishers, their aim is to take in large format POS print work and to quickly grow. Parallels has a great deal of contract work giving them a dream start for the summer of 2008...  


P.H. Laminators Invest in New Lamina 'BLACKLINE'

Bristol based print finishers, P.H. Laminators have had a Lamina 'Blackline' installed as part of their 2007 autumn investment programme. The complete line consists of a 1600x2100 Lamina 'Blackline' Fully Automatic High Capacity Laminator complete with Pressure Belt, Flip/Flop Unit and Down Stacker. The machine was purchased to increase production and to offer a laminating service to companies that have large format litho machines in the surrounding areas.

Lamina at Showcard Print

As part of their 2009 investment programme Showcard Print of Letchworth has recently had a Sheet Laminator from Lamina System installed. The Laminator is a 1.6x2.1m semi automatic with Down Stacker. This laminator compliments their recent KBA investment. After extensive research, which included a trip to Lamina’s factory near Gothenburg in Sweden, it was concluded that the Lamina is the best and most popular sheet laminator on the market today.

Lamina Boost Production at Bridgeshire Packaging

Derbyshire based company Bridgeshire Packaging has recently invested in a Lamina Gluer with Working Station as an addition to their finishing department. The machines not only speed up production but also ensure constant high quality. Set-up times vary but typically within 15-20 minutes production will begin. Rob Booth (Managing Director) says, ’We have recently secured several major contracts so the new Lamina machinery has arrived at just the right time. It means that we are confident of our quality control and meeting the deadlines set for us’. The Gluer has many options, one being a double-sided tape applicator, which is a very popular addition. Lamina also supplies litho laminators.

Lamina delivers 1116SA Laminator to Glampak after Drupa sale

Welsh company Glampak have just had a Lamina semi-automatic sheet laminator installed at their facility in Tonypandy, South Wales. Rob Evans, Glampak MD and Corpack Group Chairman Tony Evans had been looking for a high quality laminating machine. During their visit to the Lamina stand at Drupa in Dusseldorf a deal was agreed. Lamina machines are world famous for their excellent registration and many unique features. Developments have been made to help the operators achieve consistent high standards and good production speeds.Lamina laminators are available from 1100mm x 1000mm up to 1600mm x 2000mm in both semi and fully automatic formats. Options include pressure belts, down stackers, high capacity feeders, single face feeders, automatic glue pumps and flip/flop units.

Lamina Laminator Line Installed at S.H. Fiske

Bristol based packaging company S.H. Fiske have taken delivery of a new 1116 FA Lamina sheet laminator complete with Flip/Flop Unit and Downstacker. This machine line will mount paper top sheets to card bottom sheets then automatically turn piles or allow the material to pass through alternately as directed, into a downstacker. This operation is usually carried out by hand in order to stop warping of materials after the mounting procedure. S.H. Fiske’s Managing Director Richard Jarrett had viewed the Lamina machine at the Corrugated 2002 show in Paris. He was very impressed with Lamina’s simplicity of design and excellent registration system. Richard says “As many jobs at S.H. Fiske are long runs needing to be turned in small piles, the addition of the Flip/Flop unit and downstacker to the line was a necessity”.

Lamina delivers directly to P.P. Litho from Drupa Sale

London based company P&P Litho have just taken delivery of a Lamina semi-automatic mounting machine that was sold from the stand at the recent DRUPA exhibition in Dusseldorf. Bill Pandhor Managing Director of P&P Litho had been considering a Lamina for some time so he used DRUPA as the opportunity to make a deal. The model is an 1110 semi-automatic which will mean that litho printed jobs can now be printed and finished in house.Lamina took orders for 22 machines that will be delivered worldwide making DRUPA 2004 a very successful show. Laminators are available from 1100mm x 1000mm up to 1600mm x 2000mm in both fully and semi automatic formats. Options for these machines include pressure belts, and down stackers, flip/flop units, and high capacity feeders.
Hot melt in-line gluers with a working width of up to 2200mm are also available. Options include double-sided tape applicators, strutting units, off line guns and a working station for gluing difficult 2 piece boxes or dump bins.

Another Lamina Laminator for T.J. Finishing

East London based T.J. Finishing, has just had a 1622 Fully Automatic Lamina Sheet Laminator installed. The machine has high capacity feeders meaning less down time. T.J.’s have been running two Lamina laminators for many years and now needed to increase the format size. One machine was part exchanged and the remaining machine was upgraded on site during the install. John Champion, Managing Director, says ‘I am very pleased with the many new features on the Lamina machines that give excellent production speeds, even with difficult substrates’. During the last 18 months, Finishline Machinery has sold 24 Lamina machines into the UK market.

Lamina's new BLACKLINE installed at Proctors

Proctor Paper & Board have just had the new generation of sheet laminator from Lamina called the ‘Blackline’ installed in their factory in Leeds. This model is a fully automatic 1600mm x 2000mm machine complete with a pressure belt and down stacker. The ‘Blackline’ has a new feeding and registration system that means it can reach speeds that are 70% faster than the standard fully automatic. This new design is proving very popular with operators also as it has a faster and easier set-up together with excellent feeding properties for the substrates. October 2007 marks the end of Finishline Machinery's 3rd year as sole UK agent for Lamina System, with Proctors Blackline being the 35th UK installation during this time.

Lamina BLACKLINE at A&M Ellis

Wolverhampton based company A&M Ellis continue reaping the rewards of owning machinery from Lamina System of Sweden. In December 2009 they had a 1620 Blackline laminator installed which was their 3rd purchase from Lamina. The Blackline will enable them to take on larger sized work and longer run lengths due to its increase in speed from their previous Lamina standard fully-auto. This install will propell A&M Ellis to the next level and prepare them for the future.

Lamina's Finishing Touch at Greenshires

Leicester based print company The Greenshires Group has recently invested in two machines from Lamina System AB of Sweden. The decision to buy the Gluer was reached sometime ago but the industry's climate was not stable enough to invest at that time says Phil Spinks - Production Manager. When Phil showed interest in a semi-auto litho mounting machine he visited the Lamina factory in Sweden for trials and the deal was made. The installation went well with both machines being operational at the end of day one. Full on-site training was given with many comments from Greenshires staff about how easy the machines were to operate. Both machines offer huge savings in man-hours and improvements in quality control for a modest outlay and have the added bonus of taking up a very small footprint area.The Hot Melt In-line Gluer is 2200mm wide with 4 guns for 2 operators that can run two separate jobs at the same time. Typical jobs include T.O.E. showcards, cartons and FSDU's etc. In addition to this there is a double-sided Tape Applicator that saves astonishing amounts of time and money. The Laminator is an 1100mmx1000mm semi-automatic capable of speeds up to 1500 sheets per hour using a wide range of top and bottom sheets. Lamina Boost Production at Walkers mcr

Walkers have just had a Lamina Sheet Laminator installed as phase one of a large investment programme at their factory in Manchester.The fully automatic laminator has a 1600mm x 2000mm maximum sheet size with a pressure belt and downstacker completing the line. Lamina Sheet Laminator Keeps Work In-House at SPS

The SPS Group based in the west country has recently made an addition to their in-house services by purchasing a Lamina mounting machine. The decision to buy a Lamina machine was born from years of having to out source work and having very little control over quality and delivery times says Leigh Tryhorn (Production Director). James Martin (Managing Director) and Leigh decided to visit an existing Lamina customer in Copenhagen and after that an order soon followed. The model best suited was a 1400mm x 2000mm Semi-auto with pressure belt. The machine also featured a special bottom sheet feeder attachment enabling open face corrugated to be mounted. After the installation and on site training the machine went into full production. Lamina’s machines are famous all over the world for being operator friendly resulting in quality work being produced at a good hourly rate. Swedish company Lamina’s sales figures make interesting reading with over 600 machines installed in over 65 countries.

As part of their ‘07 investment programme bezier has recently had a ‘Blackline’ Sheet Laminator from Lamina System installed. The Laminator is a 1.6x2.0m fully automatic complete with Pressure Belt and Down Stacker. After extensive research, which included a trip to Lamina’s factory near Gothenburg in Sweden, Terry Boucher concluded that the Blackline was the best machine due to it’s user friendliness and many special features. The new rear edge sheet feeding system gives greater speed and improved sheet control.

Lamina Gluer for Parallels

Finishline Machinery, the UK agent for Lamina of Sweden, has confirmed the recent installation of a Gluer 2200GL and tape applicator at Parallels Print & Packaging Solutions based in Tamworth, England. The company, which is owned by Ross Griffin and Tony Kilgallen, specialise in Point of Sale print/packaging finishing. The company installed a Lamina 1620 fully automatic laminator last year, and the recent addition of the gluer and tape applicator in May 2009 was part of an investment strategy to allow the company to grow its offerings to the industry.

“We bought the new machines to help reduce our labour costs, and increase productivity, consistency and quality” explains Mr Griffin. “With this additional equipment, we are able to take on new contracts for short and medium run box work that requires gluing and taping.”


New Lamina / New Factory for PPFS

Summer 2009 saw Professional Print Finishing Services based in North East London move into a new larger factory nearby. This move also meant new machines, one being a new 1600mm x 2500mm Lamina laminator. This Lamina laminator compliments the 1600mm x 2000mm machine installed in 2004. These machines are both semi-automatic and offer quick set-up times, perfect edge-to-edge registration and can deal with various stocks up to 10mm thick. In recent years, PPFS has purchased 5 Lamina machines!!!
